Description

Green Fern Plant

Green Fern Plant is a clumping deciduous plant found in temperate and tropical climates around the world. Their numbers decrease as latitudes rise and moisture sources decrease. Green Fern prefers moist, humus-rich alkaline to neutral soil in partial shade to shade and spreads by short, creeping rhizomes.  They range in size from tiny filmy plants that are about 1–1.2 cm (0.39–0.47 inch) tall to massive tree ferns that are 10 to 25 meters (30 to 80 feet) tall. Some are twining and vine-like, while others float on the water’s surface.

Green Ferns are nonflowering vascular plants with genuine roots, stalks, and complex leaves that reproduce through spores. New species are continuously being discovered in undiscovered tropical locations. Leaves are dark green with many deep, equally spaced indentations around the margins. Delicate, bright green fronds with 3 to 6 pairs of pinnae are bipinnate to tripinnate, arching, or hanging. Fan-shaped segments and length from.25 to.75 inches. Pinnae often develop decompound, flabellate branching; pinnules/leaflets triangular, generally cuneate, lobed, sterile lobes cut deeply; sterile lobes cut deeply. Wiry, lustrous black or purple-tinged petiole.

Benefits:

Air-filtering houseplants like ferns are quite popular. Green Fern is a plant that has both aesthetic and medicinal properties.

These plants work as humidifiers, restoring moisture to the air, and making them ideal for those who suffer from dry skin and other cold-weather issues.

Ferns improve indoor air quality by absorbing formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, xylene, and toluene, lowering people’s exposure to harmful chemicals in their homes.

Maintenance:

Although Green Ferns prefer moist, shaded environments such as forest floors, it does require light.

Dappled light is their natural environment in the wild, and if the light intensity indoors is too low, it will result in poor growth and yellowing fronds.

Keep your ferns away from direct sunlight, especially during the summer, and place them near a window that gets early or late afternoon sun. They will lose their leaves or turn yellow if exposed to direct sunshine. Water the leaves on a regular basis.

Unless the humidity of the entire room is kept high through the use of a humidifier, ferns enjoy being misted at regular intervals with tepid, soft water.
