It comes from the Amazon jungle, but it’s frequently grown in southern India, and its name comes from the fact that when the leaves are crushed, they smell like garlic. Garlic odour sulphur chemicals such as alliin and allyl sulphites It’s fun to watch it develop quickly and turn into an ornamental vine. The leaves of the garlic vine derive their name from the fact that when crushed, they smell like garlic. The plant does not stink if it is left alone. Garlic Creeper is a charming ornamental vine with opposing leaves that have two ovate leaflets. The funnel-shaped flowers are purple to pale lavender to white, and they get lighter as they age.

It’s a lovely flowering ornamental vine with opposite leaves separated into two ovate leaflets. It generates multiple woody vines from the base that grow only 2-3 m tall and have bright green leaves up to 15 cm long, giving it a shrub-like look. Flowers are funnel-shaped and bloom twice a year. They start off purple with a white throat and fade to a lighter shade of lavender as they age. After a while, it fades to almost white. On the plant, three different colours of blossoms can be observed at the same time.



Cold, flu, pneumonia, cough, fever, and headache are all treated with an infusion or decoction of the leaves.

It’s an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-rheumatic drug that’s used to treat rheumatism, arthritic pain, and epilepsy.



Garlic vine thrives in a wide range of soil types, from full sun to partial shade. It thrives in well-drained, moderately watered soils. Watering should be done regularly and thoroughly. It may be necessary to water twice a day during the hot dry season.

After each flowering season, the plant should be pruned. After a few days of cutting, more buds will grow.

Garlic vines don’t usually require fertiliser because their growth is prolific enough without it. If you want your container plants to develop faster, use organic fertiliser or NPK -20-20-20 until flowering time.

Annual vine suitable for trellises, arbours, and fences, as well as containers.
